IAM Tokens for authorisation AWS connector

Modified on Fri, 18 Jul at 3:50 PM

We are excited to announce that we have transitioned from using access keys to IAM tokens for the authorization of our AWS Connector. This change enhances the security of the AWS connection needed for the connector by using AWS Identity and Access Management (IAM) roles with short-lived tokens. These tokens are more secure than the traditional access keys we used before.

Below are the key benefits why we transitioned to using the IAM Tokens.

  • Improved Security: IAM tokens provide a more secure method of authentication compared to static access keys as the latter can be used indefinitely.
  • Short-lived Credentials: Tokens expire quickly, reducing the chances of unauthorized access.
  • Streamlined Process: This change simplifies the authorization process, making it easier to manage permissions.

Important to note:

  • The previous method of using access keys is now deprecated. We already encouraged all users to migrate to IAM roles and can confirm that all AWS users have moved over successfully. No further action should be required.

For detailed setup instructions and migration guidance, please refer to the AWS Connector Documentation.
