We're making the wording in CloudBilling more consistent

Modified on Thu, 8 Oct at 1:32 PM

We're updating some texts and titles in CloudBilling, to follow one consistent tone and style. This change will go live on Monday morning, October 12th.

Why we're making this change

The same actions sometimes had different names on different screens. We've harmonised the tone of voice for every label, button and message, so the UI is easier to understand.

What's changing

Only the words and capitalisation change, not the functionality. Every button and setting does what it did before, and no data is lost. A few examples:

  • "Suspend billing" on the customer form is now "Billing Active". The checkbox reads the other way around: ticked means the customer is invoiced.
  • Some field names are clearer, for example "Bill from" becomes "Billing Start Date" and "Invoice Period" becomes "Invoice Frequency".
  • Buttons that said "Ok" now name their action, such as "Save", "Add" or "Generate".
  • We write "email" instead of "e-mail" everywhere.

What this means for you

Almost nothing changes in how CloudBilling works. The same buttons do the same things, and no data is lost. Only the words and capitalisation on screen change. The only exception is "Billing Active": the checkbox now means the opposite of "Suspend billing", so pay attention next time you suspend a customer.
